This silent film of just under 11 minutes was made by the Raja of Aundh (Raja Bhavanrao Shrinivasrao Pant Pratinidhi), probably in 1928, in Aundh, a princely state of colonial India located in present-day Maharashtra. The film, entitled “Surya Namaskar” (Sun Salutation) in both English and Hindi, likely is the earliest existing film depicting the Surya Namaskar, a signature set of movements of modern yoga.
